Tobacco/Storage Gourd Thick walled tobacco/storage gourd with removable lid. The front of the gourd has a relief carved/burned Mississippian Ivory-billed woodpecker design. Lid has a seven-pointed Cherokee star design that is also relief carved/burned. The handle is a braided deerskin loop. This gourd is 9 1/2 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. This gourd is made by artist Danny Bigay. Gourds of this type have been used since ancient times for storage containers.
